Metro: Last Light Review by The Black Panel

Added: 27.05.2013 12:17 | 0 views | 0 comments

The Black Panel writes: In this return trip to the depressing world of post apocalyptic Russia, things are both bleaker and better. The world that 4A Games has created is a distressing place to be and yet a thoroughly interesting one to explore. Add to this a wonderfully fleshed out tale of political intrigue, personal struggle and supernatural regret (as well as solid shooting mechanics) and Metro: Last Light becomes one of 2013s more exciting releases.

Metro: Last Light Review - GOS

GOS: "Damp and vermin-infested swamps and dark tunnels littered with rotting bodies await you in Metro: Last Light. Doesnt that sound like a great way to spend a post-apocalyptic future? If so, 4A Games and Deep Silver created such an immersive gameplay experience in this sequel that the only thing left out was the ability to smell whats in your surroundings. Which is a good thing, trust me."

Metro: Last Light Review [NoobFeed]

Daav Valentaten from NoobFeed takes on Metro: Last Light. While the broken tunnels of Metro: Last Light only offer a short ride, it will be such an intense experience that anything else would feel like too much of a good thing. Beauty from tragedy; it may be as poetic as the book it spawned from, in a sense.

Metro: Last Light Review | Impulse Gamer

Impulse Gamer writes: 'Metro: Last Light is the follow up to the gritty Metro: 2033. This first person Horror/ sci-fi survival shooter is a symphony of story elements joining together to make a big splash in this game series. While its not a pre requisite to play the latest gameplayers will get an even deeper understanding and enjoyable experience if they have played the first game in the series. That being said, Metro: Last Light does a good job of filling in the back story so that new players wont be totally lost as to what is going on.'

Metro: Last Light | Review (Kaboom Shark)

Added: 25.05.2013 23:18 | 5 views | 0 comments

"Quick! What was the best aspect of Metro 2033? Its game over screen? Wrong, Timmy. Go sit in the corner. The correct answer is its atmosphere. Even if the game was a little undercooked and unfocused in places, its bleak and grimy feel was so consistent and meticulous as to be utterly absorbing. What helped this was gameplay that was rough in a good way, contributing to a sense of tension and survival that you dont see in many shooters. As with any sequel to a surprisingly successful cult classic, Metro: Last Light is in a difficult position. It needs to honor the elements that made its predecessor so effective, in this case the survivalist feel and atmosphere, while also pushing its concept forward and building upon the previous games untapped potential. Now that its out, is it enlightening, or should you tie it to the metro tracks?" (Michael Urban, KaboomShark.com)

Metro: Last Light is a reminder that shooters can still be a tense, atmospheric affair, though its the introspective narrative and the solid gameplay that helps make this title a must-play for the year.

Darryl Linington from ITF Gaming writes: Lets face it, most first-person-shooters place very little focus on the single-player campaign; however, one title seems to try and break the mould, that one title is Metro: Last Light.
